One of the most beautiful cities in the UK. Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland, and one of the UK’s most beautiful cities. It is a compact, hilly city, with two distinct divisions, medieval Old Town and elegant, Georgian New Town. Edinburgh castle eternally looks over the entire city. The castle houses the crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny which is used in the Coronation of Scottish rulers. Scotland is a wonderful place to experience the Holiday Season. Enjoy a virtual tour of Edinburgh’s New Town and see all the festivities. We will start the tour at St Andrew’s Square where every year an ice rink is set up. Then we walk down George Street and admire the elegant Georgian buildings. The New Town began building in 1767 as a more comfortable living space for the residents of Edinburgh. Now it is the fashion retail center of the city as well it has lots of unique restaurants and bars. We will pass by the Dome with it’s Corinthian columns in front, always decorated for the season. Then on to Rose Street which has been lined with pubs since Victorian times. Next, on to Princes Street Gardens where most of the main festivities will be taking place. From here we can see Edinburgh Castle dominating the skyline in the background. We’ll go to Santa Grotto which is a play area set up for children to meet Santa. After we will go to the International Market which will be the highlight of the tour. Go with your virtual guide as he explores the many stalls laid out on Princes street selling all sorts of goods. From here we will also see some of the rides set up including the Big Ferris Wheel and the Star Flyer. We can also see views of Balmoral Hotel with it’s clock tower and hear about Scotland’s New Years Traditions (Hogmany). We will complete the tour with some mulled wine from one of the stalls.
